ANY Lion Mail Search Token as the default?

Lion search tokens are great, but why doesn’t it default to ‘ANY’? If you’re in the Inbox, it will select From, if you’re in the Sent mail, it will default to To, but once I’ve found someone’s email, I’m often looking for the whole conversation not just half of it.
